MDP decides to hold the party

MDP decides to hold the election of the party’s branches in order to formulate the branches per the constitution of the party.

According to the MDP constitution a branch of the party should at least have 50 members. The office bearers include the president and the vice president.

Ms. Fathimath Shaheeda, the spokesperson of the party, today said that the decision to hold the branch election was made in order to re-organize the branches as per the constitution. She also noted that there are some branches which contradict the constitution due to some reasons. She said that all such branches are asked to hold the election.

“There is no need to abolish the branches though elections are held. When a member leaves the branch or when the post of the president of the branch is vacant, then the branch should be re-organized.” said Shaheeda.

Shaheeda said that they will announce the number of MDP branches, when the re-organizing process is over.

MDP notice on the matter says that after the branch election the branches have to inform MDP office regarding that before the end of next month through MDP administrative offices established in the islands.
