Strong winds facing Faafu Biledhdhoo has blown off a large part of the roof of a local residence in the island, earlier this evening .
Speaking to Sun, the island council’s vice president Hassan Maumoon said that the roof of the island house named Mahinoorge was partly torn off. He said the incident occured around 7:40 p.m. tonight and that the roof had landed about 50 feet away from the house.
Nobody was injured in the incident, he said, although they will only be able to assess the full extent of damage after examination tomorrow.
“Nobody was injured in the incident. We don’t really know whether the building and property were damaged. We’ll know when we check tomorrow,” Maumoon said.
The council member said that the residents of house are now living in a separate part of the structure.
Hassan Maumoon said that they have received reports of additional damages to plants in various across the island caused by the wind but said that he will only be able to determine the full extent of the damages only after sunrise tomorrow.
