Our manifesto belongs to the people: JP VP candidate

Vice presdiential candidate for the Jumhoory Party coalition Dr. Hassan Saeed has said that their manifesto for the presidential election is a people’s manifesto, made for the people.

The JP coalition unveiled their manifesto at the party's official campaign launching ceremony held in Alif Dhaalu Maamigili on last Friday night.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Hassan Saeed said that the manifesto was a thorough and complete strategy, as it was assembled through reflection on the experiences of the presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim through his travels from north to south and across the country.

The manifesto includes a number of pledges to be accomplished to within the 5-year term, including efforts to maintain the 100-percent-Muslim status of the country, to establish peace and stability and to increase the country's production to ensure self-sustenance.

Jumhoory Party also promised to amend education laws to make it mandatory for all children to undergo primary education, to provide the opportunity for all students to pursue higher education, to establish pre-schools in all islands along with proper facilities for the teachers.

Dr. Saeed also pledged to provide proper healthcare to all citizens, to increase the level of healthcare to international standards and to produce well-trained doctors in the Maldives.

Speaking of housing, the vice presidential candidate said that a JP government will provide flats for every newly married couple, that they will establish centralized cities in the north, south and central areas of the country, and promised to reduce the interest rates on financial loans for housing.

Highlighting on their plan for the economy, Dr. Saeed said they will find new an innovative ways to increase tourism, establish an international universities in the country, build trans-shipment ports, and churn out 100 fishing boats each year.

Dr. Saeed said that the team that has stepped forward to implement the manifesto are capable people who feels the needs of the people and promised that the manifesto will see proper implementation.
