Foreigner rapes girl in Hulhumale

A 19 year old girl has been raped by a foreigner in Hulhumale' this morning.

Police said that they received a report around 10:30 a.m. this morning that a girl was raped in Hulhumale’, that a foreigner had ambushed a girl while she was on her way to work around 9:30 a.m. She was raped in a thicket of bushes on the side of the western side of Reethigas Magu in Hulhumale’, police said.

The girl is now being treated in Hulhumale’ Hospital.

Sun is aware that the girl was on her way to the ferry terminal to make her daily commute to work in Male’ and that the girl was raped while taking a short-cut through an area opposite to a row of flats, thick with bushes.

Sources say that according to girl, the man who committed the act had hastily gone to Male’ afterwards. A staff from Hulhumale’ Hospital said that the girl was brought to them by the police.

They also said that perpetrator was a foreigner and that he had threatened her with knife to subdue her in order to commit the rape.

“Her face was all swollen. Her lips were swollen too, and she had blood on her body,” one of the sources said.

Although sources report the girl to have said that the rape was committed by a single foreigner, the police media official has said that they are currently trying to find the people involved in the crime. However, he did not say the exact number of suspects involved.
