Seven people to be prosecuted for threatening and mugging

Cases have been sent to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office against seven people for obtaining money through threats and intimidation.

The suspects are Mustafa Moosa, 24, Fathullah Mufeed, 20, Mabrook Naseem, 22, Nimthaz Hilmy, 27, Ahmed MAfaz, 26, Ibrahim Yameen, 20, and Ahmed Firash, 29.

The police said that they are suspected of demanding large sums of money from a person and threatening him; and failing to obtain the money from him, they went to a saloon owned by the victim and used sharp objects to intimidate the two people present at the saloon, and stole MVR 1,000 from the counter and MVR 1,000 from an employee.

The cases were sent to the PG Office on 24 June 2013, and the seven suspects have previously been arrested for assault and drug-related crimes, said the police.
