Criminal Court has sentenced a man to three months in jail for damaging court property and disregarding the rules of conduct in a court of law.
Police presented Hassan Imran of Nanreethige, Laamu Dhanbidhoo before the Criminal Court asking for an extension of his detention period after arresting him for robbery. The court had said that Hassan Imran had had damaged court property after he was told to sit inside the court, soon after his extension of detention hearing.
The sentence ordering Hassan Imran to a three months jail sentence stated that he had also spoken insults towards the police officers who were handling him, an act of disregarded the rules of conduct in a court of law.
He was sentenced under Article 88 of the Penal Code.
