Presidential candidate for Jumhoory Party-led coalition Gasim Ibrahim has said that his coalition’s government will not act as a facilitator for corruption.
Speaking at a campaign event organized by JP last night, Gasim said that his coalition government would be conducted in a transparent manner and that they will not give way to corrupt practices.
“Our government will not act in a way that facilitates corruption, or act against the set principles, or work against the laws. We will work in a transparent manner,” Gasim said.
He said that a JP coalition government would focus on enabling economic benefits for the people.
Gasim also strongly criticized the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
He accused MDP government of disrupting the peace in the country, deteriorating the situation so much that it the international community refused to accept the country's condition.
He also accused MDP supporters of orchestrating the violence in February last year, where a number of courts and police stations in the islands were set on fire. He said that these are not actions of a party that wishes development for the country.
