Fire breaks out in first floor of house in Male

A house near the old Jamaaluddin building has burned down after a fire incident this morning.

Deputy Spokesperson of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Major Hussain Ali said that the fire incident in a house called Sindhitha, near the old Jamaaluddin building, was reported to MNDF at 09:05 today.

He said that efforts are ongoing by MNDF Fire and Rescue to extinguish the fire, and that it has now been controlled.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Hussain Ali said that the incident took place in a residential apartment, and work is ongoing in cooperation with the police on finding the cause of the fire.

A resident of the apartment told Sun that the apartment was occupied by its owner, and that it has constant visitors.
