Election of MMC president postponed following tie

Maldives Media Council (MMC) has postponed the election for a council president after the vote today ended up in a tie.

The vote was tied between two candidates, current council member Abdulla Shinaan of M. Alimasvaadhee and the council’s Vice President Husham Moahmed of Hiriga, Lhaviyani Naifaru.

A press statement by MMC today stated that the council will announce a new election date.

MMC’s president post became vacant following the recent resignation of the council president and media veteran Ibrahim Khaleel.
