Human Rights Ministry condemns recent murder in Gan

The Ministry of Gender, Family and Human Rights has condemned in the strongest possible terms the murder of Ahmed Nizar,31, of Woodland, Laamu Gan.

Nizar was attacked and murdered last Saturday night using wooden planks and iron rods.

The ministry assured in a statement issued tonight that efforts would be made in cooperation with the relevant authorities to bring the criminals behind this murder to justice.

The statement highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and civilians in preventing such inhumane crimes, in order to ensure peace and happiness in the Maldivian, Muslim society.

The ministry called on the public to work together to avert such inhumane behaviour.

The police have arrested a 21-year-old man in Laamu Gan in relation to Nizar’s murder.
