Parliament committee decides not to approve Azima Shakoor as AG

The Parliament Committee on Oversight of the Government has decided not to approve the government’s appointment of Aishath Azima Shakoor as the Attorney General (AG).

This decision was passed with four votes in favour, by the members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) present at today’s meeting.

Azima was reappointed as AG after the government’s decision to appoint her as the Minister of Gender, Family and Human Rights, was rejected by the parliament last week.
