Man who was hospitalised earlier while trying to bring in drugs by swallowing, arrested

The police have arrested a man who tried to enter the country with swallowed drug packets, and was hospitalised when the packets burst inside him.

The police have confirmed that the Maldivian who tried to bring in drugs to the Maldives via Sri Lanka had been arrested, but refused to provide details.

According to information obtained by Sun Online, the suspect is Ahmed Ihsan, aged 31.

Ihsan consulted a doctor when his condition got serious after the drug packets burst inside him, in May 2013.

He received treatment in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) as well as a hospital in Sri Lanka.

This case was reported to the police by IGMH.
