Humaam

The trial session for Dr Afrasheem murder suspect, Hussain Humaam Ahmed of H. Lobby, has been postponed to tomorrow.

The session previously scheduled for 11:00 today by the Criminal Court was postponed because the forensic report had not been released to the defendant’s lawyer.

At the beginning of today’s session in Criminal Court, Humaam’s layer Abdullah Haseen said that he had not received the forensic report, despite the decision that an expert would present a statement on the report in court today.

The judge said that the report had not been released because the lawyer had not made a request in this regard.

The judge released the report to the lawyer and suspended the trial for ten minutes, to allow time to prepare questions for the expert who would provide the statement on the report.

When the session resumed, the judge said that the report contained confidential information on witnesses presented by the State, thus the report can only be released after removing that information.

The judge said that more time is required to remove the names of the anonymous witnesses included in the report, and decided to postpone the trial to 11:00 tomorrow.

Humaam first confessed to the murder of Dr Afrasheem Ali, but later denied it.

At the last session of the trial, a statement was provided by a witness who was present at the murder scene. He said that he did not see Dr Afrasheem being attacked, but saw Dr Afrasheem lying on the ground by the staircase in H. Funvilu after the attack. He said that at the same time, he saw Humaam carrying a machete with blood on it, and that Humaam also had blood on his hands.

This statement was presented in court anonymously, using voice alteration.
