Siyam inaugurates Hulhudheli jetty and preschool

Chairman of Sun Travels and MP for Meedhoo constituency Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has officially inaugurated the jetty and pre school in Dhaalu Hulhudheli.

The structures, funded by Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, were inaugurated yesterday evening.

In his speech following the inauguration of the preschool, Siyam described yesterday as the day in which the foundation for education was laid down in Hulhudheli.

He also praised Dhaalu Atoll Council and Hulhudheli Council for their development efforts and said that they stand as an example for all councils across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hulhudheli Council President Adam Zahir noted that the new jetty was fully funded by Siyam himself and said that it will greatly ease the docking difficulties faced by the island today.

The jetty was constructed as means to eleviate space constraints for boats to load and unload passengers and cargo as the existing harbour became inadequate.

Zahir noted that the jetty cost about MVR 500,000 and that it will bring great ease for the people of the island.

He said that unlike the jetty, the preschool was built by joint aid from Siyam, the government and also businessman Gasim Ibrahim.

Until now, the island has been holding preschool classes in Hulhudheli School. A total of 65 students will shift to the new preschool and the it is a step forward towards improving the quality of preschool education in the island, Zahir said.

Yesterday’s ceremony included an tradition dance presented by the island’s preschool children, and a cake-slicing and tea event organized by the preschool parents.

Hulhudheli currently holds a population of 863 people.
