Leader of the Forward with the Nation coalition President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has stated that their campaign efforts for the presidential elections are seeing favourable progress.
Speaking at a Forward with the National pre-Ramadan dinner held in Carnival last night, President Waheed said their campaign had gained considerable momentum within the past week and that this has brought new inspiration to their team.
He noted that within last week, the coalition had opened a campaign post in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and that they had also seen much support from the vice presidential candidate Ahmed Thasmeen Ali’s visit to Shaviyani Atoll.
“Out work has gained new progress within the last week. As you would know, I have just made a very quick trip to Sri Lanka. Similarly, my partner Ahmed Thasmeen Ali just returned from visiting five islands in Shaviyani Atoll. From what we’ve seen in Sri Lanka and Shaviyani Atoll, we’re very hopeful,” President Waheed said.
He said that supporters of opposition parties pledged their support to him during his visit to Sri Lanka.
He also said that the coalition has designated a campaign manger to increase the momentum of the campaign.
