No need to form a coalition to defeat MDP: Gasim

Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim has said that there is no need to form a coalition to defeat Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Gasim made this remark while speaking on ‘Voice of Maldives with Gasim Ibrahim’ program tonight.

He said however that JP is not against forming a coalition.

When asked if JP might form a coalition with Adhaalath Party, he said that nothing is impossible and that JP is willing to form coalitions as agreed by two parties.

Gasim said that it is not yet known if Adhaalath Party would leave President Waheed’s ‘Forward with the Nation’ coalition, despite the rumours going around in this regard.

Gasim also spoke about some policies that will be employed by a JP government.

He said that the economy is currently not doing well, and JP would take immediate action to address this problem. Once the economy improves, the JP government would do everything possible to increase the salaries of civil servants, said Gasim.
