Man arrested while trying to flee after mugging $12,000

Police have arrested a man while trying to flee after mugging $12,000 in the capital Male’.

Police said that a 22 year old Maldivian male was arrested around 9:40 am, while he was trying to flee after mugging $12,000 from a local near Ahmadhiyya School.

Police did not say whether the perpetrator had threatened the victim to obtain the money. The man was apprehended by a police beat patrolling the area, they said.
