Case regarding theft of more than MVR 200,000 from Maamendhoo powerhouse safe, sent to PG Office

The police have forwarded a case against four suspects to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office, regarding the theft of more than MVR 290,000 from the safe of Laamu Maamendhoo powerhouse.

The suspects are Mohamed Shareef, 28, of Kunnaarumaage in Laamu Maamendhoo; Mohamed Nizar, 36, of Rihiveli in Laamu Maamendhoo; Ali Rasheed, 35, of Kunahandhooge and Ibrahim Latheef, 31, of Raiyvillage.

They have been accused of causing damage and breaking into the office of Laamu Maamendhoo powerhouse on 21 January 2013, and breaking the safe and stealing more than MVR 290,000 from the safe.

The police said that the case was forwarded to the PG Office on 10 June 2013.
