Cathay Pacific seeks to conduct scheduled flights to Maldives

International flag carrier for Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific has proposed to conduct scheduled flights to the Maldives.

Chief Executive Officer of the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority Hussain Jaleel said that Cathay Pacific has proposed to start schedule flights in October.

“Cathay Pacific has been conducting chartered flights to the Maldives. This is the first time they’ve proposed to conduct scheduled flights. We’ve told them that we welcome their proposal,” he said.

Jaleel said that the airline proposes to conduct 4 flights per week with their A330 model airplanes.

Maldives currently attracts a large amount of tourists from Hong Kong, with most of whom travel via Mega Maldives.

A world renowned airline, Cathay Pacific flies to 130 different destinations and has a fleet of 150 aircrafts.

Malaysian budget airline Air Asia has also asked the Civil Aviation Authority for approval to commence flights to the Maldives this July.
