Police commence efforts to remove graffiti from streets of Male

The police have commenced a series of efforts to clear graffiti from the walls on the streets in Male’.

The police said that the work began on 6 June, and will continue every Thursday. The police have been joined in these efforts by youths who worked as volunteers, which the police said has been a great encouragement.

The police have noted that the graffiti, which includes different signs, drawings and symbols, encourages crime and socially unacceptable behaviour. The police also urged the public to fully assist and cooperate in the efforts to remove the graffiti, as the graffiti are also violations of the Antisocial Behaviour Act.

The police said that the efforts to remove drawings from the walls in various regions in Male’ had been conducted over the past two weeks, and that the work will continue in the upcoming weeks as well.
