Police briefing sessions for presidential elections begins

Briefing sessions for the police have begun on the arrangements by the Elections Commission (EC) for the upcoming presidential elections.

Conducted for various police departments including all police officers who will be directly involved in the election process, the sessions are lead by the Elections Commission and the Police.

Police said that the sessions are being held in Iskandhar Building, in collaboration with the Institute for Security and Law Enforcement Studies (ISLES).

Elections Commission will be providing information on the efforts by the Commission in preparation for the upcoming elections, in addition to the manner in which the police should conduct themselves through the process. They will also share information on the restrictions in the areas surrounding ballot boxes, ways to deal with the public on the day of the election the guidelines for police conduct around ballot stations on the election day itself.

President of the Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeq launched the briefing sessions last Thursday, which will continue for a week. The ceremony was participated by members of the Elections Commission and senior officials of ISLES.
