Afrasheem murder:
MNDF Officer arrested; passports withheld of three suspects including Javid

The police have arrested Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Officer Ahmed Azlif of, who was previously arrested and released following a court order, in relation to the murder of religious scholar, former Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali.

Also, the Department of Immigration has withheld the passports of three suspects including son-in-law of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Chairperson Moosa Manik, Abdullah Javid, who was also previously arrested and released following a court order.

A police media official said today that Azlif was arrested last night, and a request was made from the controller of immigration to withhold the passports of several suspects. He did not provide any more details.

Controller of Immigration Mohamed Ali told Sun Online today that passports had been withheld of Abdullah Javid and two other suspects following a court order, in relation to a case under investigation by the police.

Sun Online understands that the two other suspects whose passports have been withheld are Shaheen Mohamed and Solah Abdullah (Spy).

Hussain Humaam Ahmed of H. Lobby, mentioned when he confessed to the murder in court yesterday, that Solah Abdullah (Spy) was with Azlif when Azlif told him (Humaam) that Dr Afrasheem needs to be ‘removed’, and promised a reward of MVR 4 million for carrying out the murder.
