Government to establish Maldives Hajj Corporation

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has decided to establish the Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited, following the recommendation of the Cabinet Economic Committee.

The President’s Office said that the main purpose of establishing Maldives Hajj Corporation is to facilitate hajj pilgrimage for the citizens of the Maldives, a hundred percent Muslim country, and to ensure that the payments made in this regard are received and handled with honesty.

The Maldives Hajj Corp Limited would be established as a government company with hundred per cent government shares.

The Economic Committee informed the president that the establishment of Maldives Hajj Corporation would not obstruct the private companies permitted by the Islamic Ministry, from organising hajj for Maldivians.
