DRP decides to form coalition with President Waheed

Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has decided to form a coalition with President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik to compete in the upcoming presidential election.

The motion was passed by the unanimous vote from party’s council during a meeting held in the party’s office this afternoon. A senior official from DRP has confirmed the news to Sun, although details of the decision have not yet been revealed.

DRP Leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali is scheduled to give a press conference regarding the decision at 16:30 this evening. The party announced that the press conference, which is to be held in a TVM studio, will be broadcast live through channels DhiTV, VTV and Raajje TV.

Reports hint that DRP Leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali will step up to be the running mate alongside President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.
