Home Minister Jameel dismissed from post

Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that he has been dismissed from his office as the Minister of Home Affairs today.

Dr. Jameel has published a tweet on his twitter account stating that President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has informed him of his dismissal from his office as the Minister of Home Affairs, and that he was dismissed for accepting to be the running mate the presidential candidate of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

I am being informed by HEP Dr Waheed that I have been dismissed from my post as Home Minister for joining PPM & becoming running mate

In the tweets that followed, Dr. Jameel thanked the President and his cabinet for the opportunity to work with them and extended his well wishes for the President and his team for the upcoming presidential elections. PPM will similarly work towards succeeding in the elections, Jameel said.

Dr. Jameel was dismissed while on a campaign trip in Addu City, along with PPM President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and the party’s presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen.
