Addu Atoll is one of the primary atolls in the Maldives: Maumoon

President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that Addu Atoll is a very strategically located atoll in the Maldives and that it is one of the primal atolls in the Maldives.

Speaking at a campaign event held in Addu City last night, former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom said that he has always had great respect for Addu City.

“Addu City, or Addu atoll, is a very important atoll in the Maldives. The most populous area in Maldives apart from Male’. If you look at a map of the Maldives, you will realize that it arranged from north to south like a garland of flowers. Like a necklace made of gemstones. Addu atoll is at the very end of the necklace. This means that the base of Maldives is in Addu atoll. So this Addu atoll, which is a most primal atoll in the Maldives, we appreciate and respect it greatly,” former president Maumoon said.

He gave a lot of importance to Addu City during his term of office, he said, and pledged that the city will see more development if PPM wins the presidential election this year.

Referring to the party’s presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen and his running mate Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, the former president said that the party’s presidential ticket is rich in various aspects and that there is no hope of anybody who competes with such a rich combination.

“Our presidential ticket is very ticket. That is, reflecting on the academic background and experience of the two people who hold the ticket, there is no hope to see a ticket as expensive as this,” said Maumoon.

He said that Abdulla Yameen and Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed are truthful and trustworthy people and that they now represent the Maldives as whole.

“It is quite apparent if we look at their discipline and their traits they posses. They are both quite capable. They are both truthful. They are both quite driven, energetic,” former president Maumoon praised Yameen and Jameel.
