Parliament President calls to refrain from unlawful practices

Parliament President Abdulla Shahid has called all citizens and institutions to uphold the constitution and refrain from unlawful practices.

In a press release issued by the Parliament Office, he advised all citizens and institutions to respect and obey the law in the current situation faced by the country. He asked people to be patient and peaceful towards each other, and advised them to prioritise the nation’s peace and harmony.

“What we are facing today is not something any of us want to see happen on our soil. Nobody wants to see state and public property being damaged, and lives being threatened,” Abdulla Shahid said.

He also called Maldivians to bear in mind that they are followers of Islam, and to unite as brothers as advised in the religion.
