Speaker Shahid departs on invitation of Parliament of India

Speaker of the Parliament Abdulla Shahid has departed to India to answer an invitation extended by the Parliament of India.

Maldives Parliament revealed today that Speaker Abdulla Shahid is scheduled to meet with senior members of the Parliament of India, during his visit on an invitation by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Her Excellency Meira Kumar.

The Maldives Parliament stated that the Speaker will hold talks with the Parliament of India on strengthening the relations between the two countries, new avenues to increase dialogue and communication, exchange experiences and facilitate trainings of personnel between the two countries.

Speaker Abdulla Shahid is accompanied by the Parliament’s Majority Leader and President of the Maldives-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Fuahmulak-south MP Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed, Maafannu-west MP Abdulla Abdul Raheem, Secretary General of the Parliament Ahmed Mohamed and Counsel General of the Parliament Fathimath Filza. All expenses for the trip are paid for the State of India, said that Parliament.
