MDA will win Kendhikulhudhoo by-election by a landslide: Siyam

“They are saying to the people that they will do this and that if they come to power. They are making promises saying that they will do certain things if the public votes for them. They won’t fulfil any of those promises. So the public needs to be vigilant of those people,” Siyam said.

Siyam also called on every members of MDA in all regions of the Maldives to get ten people to join the party, in order to make MDA the biggest political party in the country.

Speaking at the rally, MDA Deputy Leader Ali Mauroof noted that the candidates competing in the Kendhikulhudhoo by-election represent the oldest and the youngest political parties in the Maldives.

“God willing, in order to serve the people, we will win the by-election held on Saturday 4 May by obtaining over eighty percent of votes, as hoped for by the party’s leader,” he said.

Speaking at the rally, MDA Deputy Leader, Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir said that the people of Kendhikulhudhoo have seen what development is due to MDA’s efforts towards success in the island.

“If we look at a wider shot of what we’re seeing here today, we will see that development is a part of the investment in people. After creating MDA, we have tried in different regions of the Maldives to acquaint people with MDA. Today we see the real results in terms of development of your hard work with us towards development. So I would like to say to all the people who talk about development, that development is what we see right here,” he said, addressing the hundreds of people who participated in the rally.

Aishath Rafiyya, Deputy Leader of MDA and the first woman to be elected as deputy leader of a political party, called on the people to vote for the MDA candidate in order to ensure development for the island. She said that the speed of development in the Maldives had slowed down and almost come to a halt over the past three years, and assured a bright and prosperous future for the people of the island if they choose to support MDA.
