Ramiz elected as Deputy Leader of DRP

The Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has elected Vilingili MP Mohamed Ramiz as its Deputy Leader.

This comes following a tie between Ramiz and Economic Minister Ahmed Mohamed, and Ahmed Mohamed’s decision to support Ramiz.

Ahmed Mohamed withdrew his name before the second round of election to break the tie.

The DRP Election Committee declared Ramiz, who received the third most number of votes, as the Deputy Leader of DRP.

Ahmed Mohamed said that he withdrew his name and decided to support Ramiz in order to give preference to MPs.

DRP announced yesterday that Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam and Medhu-Henveyru MP Ali Azim had been elected to the three vacant posts of the party’s Deputy Leader.
