Deputy Leader of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam has criticised Former member of DRP, Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Shahid.
Speaking at a DRP rally last night, Rozaina said that Shahid, who recently defected to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), made remarks after joining MDP that contradicted remarks made by him while he was a member of DRP.
She said that these remarks by Shahid cannot be accepted.
“[Abdullah Shahid said that] The colour blue, which represents the sky and the sea, will remain forever. Shahid said this while speaking from this podium. So how can we accept something he says from some other podium? We can’t,” said Rozaina, the only female Deputy Leader of DRP.
Rozaina refuted rumours that she might join MDP, and said that MDP members spread such rumours not because she wants to defect to MDP, but because they want her to join MDP.
Referring to the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) she said that PPM did not win by leaving DRP, and that PPM is now ‘falling apart’.
“What did they gain from leaving DRP, for no valid reason and while members of DRP were begging them to stay? They tried to break up our party and created conflict among us. Today we see them falling apart,” she said.
Members who spoke at last night said that DRP will not fall apart, and that it will progress and move forward with determination.
