Mushaffau, suspected of killing Muheeth, sentenced to five years in prison

The Criminal Court has sentenced Ali Mushaffau of Sultan Villa, Seenu Maradhoo, to five years in prison after being convicted of a drug crime. Mushaffau is also accused of killing Abdul Muheeth of G. Veyru.

The Criminal Court said in its sentence issued on Thursday that Mushaffau had confessed to throwing away a joint when the police arrived at Vis-à-vis café on 23 September 2010 at around 11:20 pm.

The Criminal Court said that the investigation report showed that the joint thrown by Mushaffau contained Tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabinol.

The trial against Mushaffau for intentional murder, following the stabbing of Muheeth, is also in progress.
