UN commences

The United Nations Country Team in the Maldives has commenced a program called ‘Coffee with Media’ to provide information to the media on their projects.

The initial meeting under this program was held today at Roashanee Building, to provide information on the activities planned to mark World Health Day.

Today’s session of Coffee with Media was hosted by the Representative of World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Maldives.

At the meeting, Acting UN Resident Coordinator Zeba Bukhari said that the media is an important tool in conveying information on projects and campaigns carried out by the UN in the Maldives.

WHO was formed 65 years ago, on 7 April 1948. The organisation commenced projects in the Maldives in the 1950s, through its office in Sri Lanka.

This year’s World Health Day theme is ‘High Blood Pressure’. Projects have been planned by WHO in collaboration with the Ministry of Health to increase awareness on problems associated with blood pressure.
