The manager of Club Faru Resort has been dismissed for agreeing to pay the pill for the notorious conmen Artur brothers.
Two brothers from Armenia, the Artur brothers are suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and other illegal activities in cooperation with politicians around the world.
Sun has come to know that the resort’s General Manager Zaidul Khaleel was dismissed after a meeting of the board of directors of Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTCD), the public limited company that manages Club Faru Resort.
It has also been confirmed to Sun that Zaid agreed to pay $6000, the sum of charges for the stay of the Artur brothers. Zaid agreed to pay the amount following disagreements with the Tourism Ministry whom had claimed that the bill must be settled by the resort.
Zaid was dismissed at a meeting of the MTDC board of directors held last Thursday.
Allegations of corruption have also been directed towards the resort, accusing that a number of people were recently allowed on the island secretly, who had then abused the resort’s resources. The people were supposedly authorized by the Tourism Ministry.
The Artur brothers registered a company in the Maldives with a licence to carry out tourism related businesses on the 14th of August 2012 named Arthur Brothers World Connection Private Limited in which lists 5 shareholders including a Maldivian, one Ismail Waseem of H. Ever Chance.
