Feydhoo Magistrate Court has sentenced the uncle of the 15-year-old girl from Addu City’s Feydhoo to 25 years in prison, and the other man involved in this case to 14 years in prison.
The 15-year-old girl got pregnant after she was sexually abused by both men. She gave birth on 1 November 2012 after seven months of pregnancy. She was a student in Grade 6 in Feydhoo School.
An official of the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office said that her uncle, Adam Saeed, 46, of Cosy Corner in Feydhoo, was found guilty of having sexual relations with a member of his family, and thus sentenced to 25 years in prison today.
The PG office also said that Mohamed Javid, 38, of Gulfaamge, Seenu Maradhoo Feydhoo, was found guilty of sexually abusing a minor, and thus sentenced to 14 years in prison.
The police said that the 15-year-old girl’s baby’s DNA matched Mohamed Javid’s, and both Mohamed Javid and Adam Saeed have criminal record for drug-related offences.
The police also said that investigations proved that the Mohamed Javid went to the girl’s house and had sexual relations with her on several occasions.
They were sentenced to long-term imprisonment under the Child Sex Abuse (Special Provisions) Act.
