Over 31,000 people will vote in PPM Primary: Gayoom

President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that over 31,000 people will vote in the party’s Primary Election scheduled for 30 March.

Gayoom said in a tweet yesterday, “As per PPM database 31,256 members are eligible to vote in our primary on 30/3/13.”

PPM Spokesperson, Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof told Sun Online that the deadline was extended until 28 February for people who wish to vote in the primary election to become members of PPM, and that several membership forms thus remain to be sent to the Elections Commission.

He said that there are also several forms that were rejected by the commission when they only accepted forms including fingerprints, which means that the total number of people who would vote in the primary election would reach that amount.

The registry of the Elections Commission shows that PPM presently has 22,383 members and 1,671 membership forms waiting to be processed.
