Misleading the public regarding courts is a crime: Male

The Male’ Court Employees Coalition has said that the government’s efforts to show that the arrest of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed is lawful, is a crime conducted to damage the reputation of the judicial system.

In a Press Release by the Coalition signed by its President Mohamed Amir, they condemned the disrespect imposed on the judicial system by the government subsequent to the government’s disregard to the orders issued by the Criminal Court, High Court and Supreme Court to release the arrested Judge.

“We strictly condemn the government’s efforts to damage the reputations of the employees of this sector,” they said in the Press Release.

The Coalition further called for an immediate stop to the false information spread by the government, as it creates misunderstandings among the public regarding the work and conduct of Judges and employees of the courts, which in turn has a negative effect on these employees when carrying out their responsibilities.

Furthermore, they called for the immediate release of Judge Abdulla, the full cooperation of the government to the judicial sector, and the protection of Judges within the framework of the Constitution.
