Kazakhstan’s Turan VC has defeated Maldives’ WAMCO to secure semifinal spot in Group A matches of Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women’s League 2026.
With this result, Turan secured first place in the three-team Group A, ahead of WAMCO and Sri Lanka’s Hirdaramani SC.
Turan won Friday’s match against WAMCO in three straight sets: first set 25-21, second set 25-8 and third set 25-8. Although WAMCO emerged strong in the first set, the team showcased poor performances in the second and third sets.
The second team which will proceed from Group A to the semifinal will be decided in the match between WAMCO and Hirdaramani scheduled for Saturday night. The team defeated in this match will be out of the tournament.
CAVA Women’s League 2026, which is being held in the Maldives, is competed by seven teams from six countries, including two teams from the Maldives.
The teams have been divided into two groups. Group B comprises of Maldives’ Huraa CC, Iran’s Foolad MS, Uzbekistan’s Humo VC and Nepal’s Police Club.
The best two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, where the two teams that face defeat will receive bronze medals. The final match will be held at 20:30pm on February 10th.
Tickets for matches held at the Social Centre are priced at MVR 25. Ticket sales will open one hour prior to each match at the ticketing booth set up at the Social Centre.
