The Ministry of Higher Education has awarded Central Line Pvt Ltd the contract to establish vocational training centers in Fuvahmulah and Sh. Funadhoo.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday by Permanent Secretary Aishath Hikma on behalf of the ministry, while Managing Director Abdullah Asim represented Central Line.
According to the ministry, the centers will feature a multi-purpose workshop, classrooms, IT lab, administrative offices, staff room, student services area, meeting rooms, study room, and library.
While the ministry did not disclose the duration or cost of the project, it has announced plans to open a vocational school in Fuvahmulah to provide training in ten fields:
Architectural technology and design
Cake making and decorating
Automotive engineering
Civil engineering
Carpentry
Electrical and electronics engineering
Information technology
Photography
Refrigeration and air conditioning
Small business management
Admission requirements include completion of Grade 10 in the previous or current academic year, and being under 18 years of age by December 31 of the previous year.
The ministry has not yet announced an opening date for the school.
