Parliamentary Group Leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC) and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falaah has praised President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s performance, saying he has “served better than expected” during his first two years in office.
Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the second anniversary of the current administration, Falaah described President Muizzu as “a gem for this country.”
“President Muizzu has served better than expected these two years,” he said.
Falaah contrasted the current administration with previous governments, which he described as “cowardly and abusive”, using a Dhivehi word 'abui'. He noted how President Muizzu had personally visited islands, listened to citizens’ concerns, and launched additional projects based on public requests, beyond those initially pledged.
The anniversary event included a ceremonial cake-cutting and was attended by PNC MP Ibrahim Shujau, Speaker of Parliament and PNC Chairman Abdul Raheem Abdulla, and other party officials.
Last Friday, the PNC also held a large rally to commemorate the milestone. According to the President, more than 13,000 people attended. Party officials have described it as the largest political gathering in recent history, citing it as a show of public support for the government.
However, the rally has drawn criticism from opposition figures and some members of the public.
