The Trump Organization, the private business of US President Donald Trump, has announced plans to open a luxury resort on an island located about 25 minutes by speedboat from Male' city.

According to international media reports, the project is being developed in partnership with London-listed real estate firm Dar Global. A joint statement from the two companies states that the resort will feature more than 80 ultra-luxury beach and overwater villas.

The resort is expected to open in late 2028.

In a first for the Maldives, the project will use blockchain technology to attract investors. Through a process known as tokenization, investors will be able to purchase fractional shares of the resort before construction begins, a model that offers greater liquidity and access to high-end real estate.

Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and son of President Trump, said he was “delighted to introduce the Trump brand to the Maldives.”

The Trump Organization currently operates hotels and resorts in the United States, Scotland, and Dubai.
