Maldivian music band 2ofus has become the first band from the Maldives to hold an official concert abroad, performing live at the PJ Live Arts Theatre in Kuala Lumpur on Friday night.
The concert, titled Dream Beyond Borders, 2ofus LIVE in Kuala Lumpur, was broadcast on SSTV, reaching viewers in both the Maldives and Malaysia. The event featured performances by Maldivian and Malaysian artists, with organizers describing it as a celebration of cross-cultural collaboration and artistic exchange.
According to the band, the concert aimed to highlight the growing reach of Maldivian music and its potential to connect with international audiences.
The event was organized by 2ofus and supported by Concierge Group Maldives as Title Sponsor, in collaboration with Visit Maldives Corporation, Phat Katz Malaysia, and other partners.
2ofus rose to prominence with their genre-blending sound and cinematic music videos, including the 2024 release Loabin. Their work has been noted for its emotional themes, genre-defying blend of music and visual storytelling, contributing to a broader shift in the Maldivian music scene.
Friday’s concert marks a new milestone in the band’s career and in the country’s music industry, as Maldivian artists continue to explore opportunities beyond national borders.
The concert featured three additional Maldivian acts alongside the headliners. FASYLIVE performed pop songs, SPITBALL delivered hip-hop tracks in Dhivehi and English, and the Heyvalla Boduberu Group presented traditional boduberu drumming and chants. The lineup also included the Malaysian band Tone Conspirators.
