Maldive Gas’ former MD Maanu appeals 12-year sentence

Abdulla Maumoon (Maanu), who was convicted in September of taking bribes during his time as the managing director of Maldive Gas, has appealed his sentence with the High Court. Maumoon had helmed the state-owned Maldive Gas during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration. In 2024, the state charged Maumoon with seven counts of bribery over money deposits between 2016 and 2017
