Maldives Customs Service and Sri Lanka Customs Service have commenced efforts to establish a system whereby information can be shared between the two authorities at a faster speed.
The decision to establish a system to share information related to import and export at a faster speed through electronic means, was made after official discussions between Director General of Sri Lanka Customs Mr J P Wijeweera and Commissioner General of Maldives Customs Mohamed Aswan.
A delegation of Sri Lanka Customs led by Mr J P Wijeweera is currently in the Maldives on a two-day visit.
During the meeting, discussions were also held on collaborating in relation to training staff, sharing intelligence information, cooperating to find solutions to challenges faced in determining commodity prices and auditing, and signing an MoU to strengthen cooperation between the two authorities.
Mr J P Wijeweera, during this visit, will also pay courtesy calls on Minister of Finance and Treasury Abullah Jihad and Minister of Economic Development Ahmed Mohamed.
