Former council president and spouse arrested in Feydhoo drug raid

A former councilman and his spouse were arrested last week in raid on a home in Sh. Feydhoo.

According to a statement released by the police on Sunday night, the operation was conducted on September 24 based on information received by the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.

The police said they made two arrests in the operation. They were identified as:

  • Mohamed Mustafa, Saimage, Sh. Feydhoo
  • Fathimath Naila, Lighthouse, Sh. Feydhoo

According to police, they were arrested with two paper bags containing suspected drugs.

When presented at a court for their remand, Mustafa was remanded in custody for 15 days, while Naila was remanded for seven days.

Police said Naila was later released from custody due to lack of cause to keep her detained.

The case is under further investigation by the police.

Mustafa got elected as president of the Feydhoo Council in 2017. In an island of some 800 people, Mustafa got elected with 303 votes.
