The Bank of Maldives (BML) opened a self-service banking ATM in Gaadhiffushi on Friday, marking the expansion of ATM services across all inhabited islands of Th. Atoll.

The new ATM was established as part of the “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM" initiative – an initiative that seeks to establish ATM services in all residential islands by the end of this year.

The BML launched ATM services in the island of Gaadhiffushi on Friday, in a ceremony attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, government ministers, as well as BML’s Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, board directors, and other senior officials.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Shareef said that the national bank has now covered all inhabited islands of 12 out of 20 atolls.

“Today, with the completion of Th. atoll, we are proud to celebrate the introduction of ATM services in all inhabited islands of 15 atolls under the “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” initiative,” said Shareef.

“ATMs have played a crucial role in bringing customers into the formal banking system and as we expand our physical network, we remain committed to enhancing our digital banking services.”

The BML has an extensive network comprising 42 branches across all 20 atolls, 179 self-service banking centers, 237 ATMs, comprehensive agent banking services, and advanced digital banking solutions.

The bank launched an initiative to establish ATMs in all residential islands of the Maldives last year – a project that it expects to wrap up by November.
