Dhiraagu has successfully hosted the SEA-ME-WE 6 Global Consortium Meeting, bringing together key stakeholders from around the world to discuss the progress and future plans of the submarine cable system.
The meeting took place from September 7-11 in Male’ City.
The SEA-ME-WE 6 cable system is a critical infrastructure project that aims to enhance global connectivity by linking Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe. This state-of the-art cable system will provide high-speed internet and improved communication services to millions of people across these regions.
Dhiraagu’s investment in the SEA-ME-WE 6 global submarine cable system will give Maldives direct access to key internet exchange points and data centers in South Asia, Middle East and Europe, strengthening connectivity, boosting resilience, and supporting the growing demand for high-quality data services in the digital economy.
In a welcome dinner held for the participants of the SEA-ME-WE 6 consortium, Dhiraagu's CEO Ismail Rasheed expressed gratitude to all participants for their support, valuable contributions, and reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting the SEA-ME-WE 6 project.
He also emphasized the importance of this initiative for the Maldives in driving digital transformation and fostering economic growth in the connected regions.
Dhiraagu is a member of the SEA-ME-WE 6 consortium, which consists of prominent global telecommunications and digital service providers. Members include BEYON B.S.C (Batelco, Bahrain), Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCCL, Bangladesh), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (India), China United Network Communications Group Company Limited (China Unicom), Djibouti Telecom, Microsoft (United States), Mobily (Saudi Arabia), Orange (France), PCCW Global, Singtel (Singapore), Sri Lanka Telecom, Telecom Egypt, Telekom Malaysia, Telin (Indonesia), and Trans World Associates (Pakistan).
