First Lady urges collaborative efforts to strengthen neonatal care

First Lady Sajidha Ahmed, on Wednesday, called on healthcare professionals across the country to join hands in strengthening neonatal care.

She made the appeal while opening the two-day Neonatal Nurses Conference 2025 at Dharumavantha Hospital on Wednesday morning.

In her remarks, the First Lady spoke about the Maldives’ history of neonatal care, recognizing that it has been marked by many difficult and emotional challenges. She praised the commitment of healthcare workers in this area and highlighted the pressing need for continued progress, including increased investment in infrastructure, resources, and specialized skills.

She also discussed the fast pace of technological advancements across various fields, emphasizing the importance of these changes in healthcare. Referencing innovations in neonatal care, she noted that gatherings like this conference play a crucial role in bringing new technologies to the Maldives.

Tying her remarks to the conference's theme, the First Lady remarked on its relevance to the everyday lives of Maldivians and emphasized the need for collective action to turn the conference’s goals into reality.

Officials from the Malé City Group of Hospitals were also present at the opening ceremony.
