The redevelopment of Galolhu City Park to be completed by October.
Male’ City Council, on Monday, said Galolhu City Park, which is currently under redevelopment, will be completed by October.
Galolhu City Park was previously redeveloped, but it became severely run-down due to a lack of proper maintenance.
According to Male’ City Council, 65 percent of the park has been completed under the new redevelopment project. At the completion of the project, the park will feature exercise machines, a badminton court, a three-on-three basketball court, a play space for children and an outdoor gym. The park will also feature an area for hosting events and a space where senior citizens can relax and socialize.
The Council states the redevelopment of the park falls in line with numerous efforts to ensure Male’ City is a safe, comfortable, and peaceful place for its residents, where residents help and care for each other.
Notably, the park is being redeveloped by clearing up part of Galolhu cemetery. This move has faced heavy public criticism, to which the Council responded by stating that it has been done in the past as well.
The Supreme Council of Fatwa has released a fatwa after Maafannu cemetery was vacated, citing that it is not permitted.
