The residents of B. Kendhoo have come out to the streets protesting against the frequent power outages at various times on Thursday.
Speaking to Sun, the island council chairman Ibrahim Abdul Rahman said the islanders have been distressed from electricity problems for several days now.
He said the problem started after a generator at the power house operated by Fenaka had a problem and an old generator was brought to the island to resolve the issue.

Since then, the problem of power outages has not been completely resolved, he said.
However, on Thursday, people are protesting against unusually frequent power outages, he said. The power outages are continuing into the evening as well, he said.
Abdul Rahman said the power outages are causing a lot of damage to the islands. Many people's expensive electronic goods are being wrecked, he said, from surge damage.
